A special Gretsch Electromatic 5120 produced in Japan in 1995, in the highly valued Terada factory. This is a very early, pre-Fender period of the Gretsch brand — an instrument from a completely different era than the later Electromatics produced in Korea or China. It is these first Japanese Electromatics that are increasingly appreciated today by guitarists and collectors. Quality, resonance and soundly they stand much closer to the professional Gretsch models than the later budget series. The guitar features original U.S. PAT Filter’Tron pickups, which are responsible for absolutely distinctive, spatial and organic sound. The instrument has an incredibly open middle, a springy bottom and this typical “air” up the band, which is virtually impossible to find in modern Electromatics. This is not modern, heavy and more sterile Gretsch.
