Ibanez AFJ95 Vintage Sunburst 2012 Hollow Body Electric Guitar

This is an Ibanez AFJ95 Hollow Body Electric Guitar in Vintage Sunburst finish. Made in China in 2012, this guitar consists of a Spruce top, Flamed Maple back and sides, a 3-piece Maple/Mahogany neck, and a 20-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include an upgraded roller saddle style bridge, a VT06 Trapeze tailpiece, Ibanez Die-Cast tuners, and a set of Ibanez Super 58 Humbucking pickups. These pickups are wired to two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way pickup selector.

The 3-pc Mahogany/Maple neck plays very well, with the ‘AFJ’ profile filling the hand nicely for a substantial yet articulate grip across the register. The profile might be described as a moderately-sized ‘C’ shape which offers a smooth and responsive playing experience, well suited to tricky jazz voicings and smooth melodic lines alike. The gloss finish to the rear assists with navigation of the 24.75” scale, whilst the single cutaway ensures access to the upper frets is unrestricted. On the slightly smaller side for a hollow body, the AFJ95 is supremely comfortable in the arms for an easily manageable playing experience in both seated and standing positions.

The pair of Ibanez Super ‘58 humbucking pickups installed in this guitar deliver smooth and well-rounded tones that are well suited to jazz and blues styles. The neck is warm and buttery, with plenty of power for pushing those melodic lines forward in the mix, whilst remaining restrained enough to blend in. The bridge pickup is brighter, with crisp trebles and an open and clear mid-range that works just as well with crunchy gain as it does smooth clean sounds.
