PRS Custom 22 Artist Package Orange 2003 Electric Guitar - Description

This is a PRS Custom 22 Artist Package in Orange. Made in the USA in 2003 this guitar features a set-neck construction consisting of a Mahogany body with Flame Maple top, Maple neck and 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Rosewood headplate, Abalone bird inlays and gold hardware. This guitar features two PRS Dragon II humbucking pickups wired with a 5-way selector knob as well as master volume and tone controls.

The Mahogany neck plays superbly well, with the ‘Pattern Thin’ profile offering a smooth, responsive and articulate paying experience in all registers. Certainly, the profile is well suited to lead players as it is slim enough for fast melodic lines and solos. The gloss finish to the rear of the neck assists with navigation of the 25” scale, and the double cutaway body design with signature PRS sculpted lower horn enhances access to the upper frets. The Rosewood of the fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, its 10” radius feeling practical for a wide range of playing styles and techniques whilst the attractive bordered Abalone inlays add a touch of luxury to the playing experience.

The pair of PRS Dragon II humbucking pickups installed in this guitar deliver thick and full-bodied tones, with plenty of switching options to ensure versatility. The Dragon II in the neck position is warm and round, and delivers plenty of power to push those lead lines and solos to the front of the mix. The Dragon II in the bridge is brighter, and can handle serious amounts of gain for a saturated rhythm guitar sound on your riffs and power chords. In positions 2 & 4 the pickups effectively split, providing an out-of-phase single coil sound which works well for crystal clear shimmering clean sounds. The control layout remains simple but offers plenty of scope for shaping your tone.
