PRS McCarty Korina Black Sunburst 2008 Electric Guitar

This is a PRS McCarty Korina Electric Guitar in Black Sunburst finish. Made in the USA in 2008, this set-neck guitar consists of a Korina body and a Korina neck. Korina is a very sought after tone wood due to its availability and to the complex priorities it inhibits. These factors make Korina a highly desirable and sought after material for both guitar makers and potential owners, this and with PRS’s well renowned high quality really puts this guitar on a pedestal of its own.

A 22 Medium-Jumbo fret Rosewood fingerboard is featured which is adorned with Pearl/Abalone Half Moon inlays adding to the time and quality PRS are known for. The serial number indicates that this guitar was built in 2008, but the hang tag suggests that it was finished and ready for sale in early 2009. Other appointments include PRS Vintage-Style tuners, a Wraparound bridge, and a pair of PRS McCarty humbucking pickups, these are wired to a three-way pickup selector, master volume and a master tone with a push/pull coil-split feature.

The Korina neck plays very well, with the ‘Wide Fat’ profile filling the hand nicely whilst remaining slim enough for fast, articulate playing. The Gloss finish to the rear assists with smooth navigation of the 25” scale, whilst the double cutaway body design and customary PRS sculpted lower horn enhance access to the upper frets. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its traditional PRS 10” radius provides a comfortable balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for lead lines, whilst ensuring vibrato techniques are effortless.

The pair of PRS McCarty humbucker pickups sound thick and raw, with a solid output that pushes the front end of an amp nicely. The neck pickup is full sounding and warm, whilst the midrange is perfectly balanced and easily cuts through any mix. The bridge has a hotter output, it produces a biting tone which easily cuts through the mix for those rock rhythm sounds and has a great harmonic register. The independent volume and tone controls offer comprehensive control of your sound, feeling very responsive to small changes. This guitar offers a wide selection of tones for the player to explore, with the added coil split feature on the tone control to access single-coil tonalities, the ease of the control layout offers the player a great plug-in-and-play instrument.
